A: Well.

By now, her flustered mood had spread to her skin, which was slowly turning a deep plum colour.

R: Amy, you're starting to look like an aubergine. Have I scared you? Would you rather I leave?

A: No!

She forced her skin to return to its normal colour.

A: Was that rushed? No.

Remus looked at the floor, hands in his pockets, deep.

R: I wasn't planning on asking, you know. It was kind of a spur of the moment thing. Which is odd, for me, as you know.

A: You can ask me anytime Lupin. That's what best friends are for.

Now or never.

Remus was about to ask what she meant by 'any time', but decided against it. With a shy smile, he took his hands from his pockets and looked from the floor to Amy's face a few times.

R: Now?

A: Now.

R: ...Right.

A small, shuffly step brought Remus closer to Amy. He wasn't sure what to do with his hands, so settled on holding one of her hands and putting the other on her cheek. Slowly, gradually, nervously, he leaned towards her, having to bend slightly, and gently guided her face towards his. Their lips touched in the middle.

Her eyebrows shot up as she stood on her tiptoes to meet his lips. Not in surprise regarding the kiss itself, but more the fact that she was very much enjoying it. In a friendy kind of way.

Remus pulled back after five seconds, determined not to get carried away, though it was hard. He opened his eyes to look at her, blinking dozily, rubbing his lips together.

R: Thanks.

He murmured, smile flickering.

Amy was a bit pink. That kiss was different from the last one.

A: Goodnight.

She rushed upstairs and to the girls dorms.

Remus wandered upstairs with a dreamy grin. James realised he wasn't coming down and also went to bed.

Amy walked in and sat on the usual love seat.

Remus did, also, and put her feet in his lap, as was the norm.

A: Well that was bloody awkward.

R: Why do they keep arguing? Why can't they just ignore each other?

J: Sexual tension.

R: Is everything about sex with you?

J: Preferably.

A: It's not even like they want to... you know, have sex! They just seem to hate each other!

She was flailing her arms wildly.

R: Amy, I hate to break it to you, but-

J: They wanna get down and dirty with each other.

R: Well, yes.

Amy stretched her legs, kicking Remus accidentally.

A: Sorry. Wait. Are you sure they... Want to...?

J: They could not be making it more obvious. Seriously, it's almost embarrassing. Sirius has admitted that he wants her. He's gone back on it now but he said it.

R: They're behaving like children. Little children bully the people they have crushes on, not young adults.

A: I suppose. But... I can't see it working.

She leant forwards and started playing with the sleeves of Lupin's shirt.

Remus lightly slapped her hand.

J: See? Remus hit you and he totally fancies you.

Amy leaned away quickly.

A: Shut it.

R: James!

J: Remus!

R: I don't fancy Amy!

J: Is she pretty?

R: Of course she's-

J: So you fancy her.

James looked triumphant. Remus spluttered for words, pink in the face.

R: Just because I think Amy's pretty does not mean I fancy her! Do you think she's pretty?

J: She isn't ugly.

A: What's that supposed to mean?!

She said to James. Her hair was going a weird maroon colour.
