E: Not too soon! More confusion!

A: Ugh.

She put a hand to her mouth.

A: I don't know if I can. Already we keep getting too close, you know?

E: I understand: you're drawn to him. There's a physical attraction there. Would you say that always been there, or just since you started, um, being intimate?

She chewed on the pencil a bit before answering.

A: I suppose it's been there, even just at the back of my mind, since we met.

E: So you've had a kind of crush on him since you met?

A: Not a crush! Just, I like him a lot.

E: But you also think he's handsome.

A: Kinda.

Her voice was getting smaller.

E: Generally if you're physically attracted to someone who you also like as a person, and consider a friend, it's referred to as a crush. Amy, I have just one more question for you: can you see R- this boy, being your boyfriend?

Amy shut her eyes, and imagined it. At first she could definitely see it. Remus being the one to hold her hand if she was scared, or kiss her, or laugh with her at things that only they found funny. Remus being the one who she gave herself to completely, without feeling guilt, or having to ever say goodbye. But then she thought harder. Remus being the one to call it off after she said something, did something wrong. Remus not talking to her ever again.

She opened them again.

A: I don't know.

E: I'm not asking if you think it would end well yet. I'm asking if you could see yourself in a relationship with him.

A: Well... I guess?

E: Do you guess or do you know?

She scribbled out another label, pressing down so hard the lead broke.

A: Agh. Repairo.

After rewriting the label, she looked at Evangeline again.

A: I... guess.

E: Amy, think about holding his hand, kissing him, cuddling, talking to him. Tell me that doesn't feel good.

She thought again. She thought about kissing him. Too painful. Cuddling him? Too painful. It wasn't the concept, more the fact that they had done both these things, and she knew she wouldn't do them again.

A: It feels bad. It hurts.

E: Because you think it's wrong?

Evangeline reached out and took Amy's hand, giving it a squeeze.

E: It doesn't have to be over before it's even started, Amy.

A: It won't start. It can't.

She heard a noise, Sirius had entered.

S: Amy we need you, common room?

E: It's rude not to address everyone in a group upon entering.

S: It's also rude to look as stupid as you, but I'm not complaining now, am I?

He tugged at Amy's arm.

A: Stop! I'm coming, hang on.

E: What, my dear Lady Disdain, are you yet living?

Evangeline smirked into her homework.

Sirius smirked back, bringing back his Shakespeare knowledge from his collection he had kept (despite his mother's qualms about it being 'too Muggle'. The protests only made him read them much more avidly.)

S: I am loved of all ladies, only you excepted.

A: Will you shut it. I'm coming, let's go.

She stood up.

Evangeline's head snapped up at this. Sirius knew Shakespeare? That was unexpected. And irritating. Oh well. Refusing to admit defeat, she snapped her book closed and faced him, primly. Smug.

E: I wonder you will still be talking. Nobody marks you.

S: Well, you are a rare parrot-teacher.

He glared down at her.

E: A bird of my tongue is better than a beast of yours.

She countered, standing up cocking her head challengingly.
